Clinical Director Palliative Care Services 

With more than 600,000 people living in our district, Waitemata has the largest and one of the fastest growing populations in the country. 
The main sites of Waitemata DHB include North Shore Hospital on the shores of Takapuna's Lake Pupuke and Waitakere Hospital within sight of West Auckland's green belt.  We are seeking expressions of interest from Specialist Leaders who may be interested in the Clinical Directorship of the hospitals palliative care team as well as to develop a future clinical partnership model with our district hospices.   

As Clinical Director you would be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision to support the development of the service and regional collaboration. Working also as a Specialist you will provide medical consultative specialist palliative care to adult patients (and their family/caregivers and whanau) as an integrated member of the multidisciplinary palliative care team and working alongside the lead care team. 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate strategic medical leadership.  


Candidates are required to be registered (or registerable) with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist in Palliative Medicine and will hold a Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians) or equivalent.  If you are from overseas or outside Auckland, Waitemata DHB's candidate care team will help with the logistics of immigration and relocation, to make your move as smooth as possible.
