ANZSPM welcomed continuing and new members of the ANZSPM Aotearoa Committee during the Annual Education Update in Queenstown on 28 and 29 June 2019.
Palliative Care Australia in partnership with ANZSPM, Palliative Care Nurses Australia, the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the End of Life Directions for Aged Care program has released a statement in regard to COVID-19 and the formation of an Australian COVID-19 Palliative Care Working Group.
ANZSPM has collated resources to support our members and other health care professionals in providing palliative care in the challenging environment presented by COVID19.
On 25 March 2020 , the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs tabled its report of the inquiry into the current barriers to patient access to medicinal cannabis in Australia. ANZSPM made a submission to the inquiry.
On Tuesday 24 March 2020, the first report of the Queensland Parliamentary Committee inquiry into aged care, end-of-life and palliative care and voluntary assisted dying was published. ANZSPM made a submission to the inquiry.

ANZSPM has published a series of guidance documents relating to palliative care in the COVID-19 context. The documents will be regularly reviewed, updated and added to as the environment around COVID-19 changes. The documents have been produced to support healthcare professionals in their understanding of COVID-19 context palliative care.
