The Kidney Supportive Care Masterclass has been held successfully for many years across Australia,
including in Sydney and Brisbane, and has established itself as the dedicated educational forum in
kidney supportive care for the multidisciplinary nephrology workforce (generally around 100–150
attendees).
The program spans symptom management, conservative care, ethical decision-making,
advance care planning, and end-of-life care. We now seek ANZSN endorsement to recognise and
strengthen this important initiative, given its strong alignment with ANZSN's values and strategic
direction across several domains:
-
Education: An expert faculty of national and international speakers — drawn from
nephrology, palliative care, pharmacy, nursing, and social work — delivers high-quality,
practice-focused education relevant to ANZSPM's core membership.
-
Equity: Dedicated sessions address First Nations kidney supportive care and
culturally safe care for CALD populations.
-
Patient-centred care: Patient advocates are included in the program, ensuring
lived experience informs professional learning.
-
International collaboration: Aiming to bring global perspectives on KSC models
and end-of-life care.
