Special Interest Group Objectives:
The Rural & Remote Palliative Care SIG exists to provide a forum for sharing information, networking and professional development on, and advocacy for rural and remote palliative medicine/care, trends and best practice. The SIG currently has representation across diverse settings including metropolitan, regional, rural and remote, specialist palliative care and general practice across all states of Australia and New Zealand.
Recent Updates:
In 2020-21, the SIG has provided detailed feedback on ANZPM’s submissions to the Inquiry into health outcomes and access to health and hospital services in rural, regional and remote New South Wales, and the Tasmanian rural health services inquiry. The SIG also provided a formal written submission to the RACP Training Committee Palliative Medicine, requesting consideration be made to issues relevant to palliative medicine training in rural and remote settings
